Paper Dolls

“Mayberry”

Sometimes it feels like this world is spinning faster
Than it did in the old days
So naturally we have more natural disasters
From the strain of a fast pace

Sunday was the day of rest
Now its one more day for progress
And we can’t slow down
Cause more is best
It’s all an endless process

Well I miss Mayberry
Sitting on the porch drinking ice cold Cherry — Coke
Where everything is black & white
Picking on a Six String
Where people pass by and you call them by their first name
Watching the clouds roll by
bye bye
-Rascal Flatts

I’ll be the first one to admit that I’m a tech junkie lol There isn’t a day that goes by where I’m not thankful for all my iToys in their many forms… But there is also a part of me that has a strong love for things of old, especially when you consider how expensive today’s toys are…

One childhood ‘toy’ that I remember fondly were Victorian Paper Dolls…
Not only were these ‘dolls’ beautiful but they were fairly inexpensive; especially when compared to the prices of dolls today.

The other great thing about the dolls and their clothes…if they got ruined, it was crazy expensive to get more.

Another great thing about paper dolls… if you don’t like the color of her dress, change it!

If you’re not up for designing your own dolls/clothes and don’t have the help of an extraordinary friend with amazing design skills, you can always pick up the Dress Up Dolls & Pets SD card…

To make these dolls kid friendly be sure to use a stronger card stock… When it comes to layering the clothes on the doll, there are 2 options. 1. Attach ‘tags’ to the clothing pieces that will fold onto the doll like traditional paper doll clothes had OR you can use option number 2. And that is to use Magnetic Paint on the backs of the items. Be sure to let the paint/paper dry completely between each coat until you get the strength needed.

Either way, you’ve got project that is sure to delight the little girls in your world! 🙂
