Double Dosing is DONE!

Today was the last day of my double-dosing rounds of chemo! I’m 1/3 of the way through treatment, woo hoo! I’m even being given the next 3 weeks off for good behavior and to give my body a chance to recover from all the chemo meds. Looks like I’ll get to enjoy a quiet Thanksgiving at home with my little family and I couldn’t be happier about that. 🙂

My oncologist is very happy with my blood counts and although my weight gain is driving me nuts, she’s happy with it. Me, I feel like I’m a sausage and my clothes are my casing!!! The assurances that most of the extra weight is fluid retention doesn’t ease my discomfort. But as my mom keeps reminding me, This Too Shall Pass.

I meet with my oncologist again on November 28th to start the next phase of my treatments; 3 months of weekly chemo sessions. My biggest hope is that the chemo migraines will lessen or better yet, stop altogether. Until then, my job for the next 3 weeks is to rest as much as possible.

As most of you know, I’m currently on unpaid medical leave and although we’ve reached our out if pocket for the year, that status will reset on January 1st. We’ve set up a fundraising site for those who would be willing to help; no donation is too small! Please pass the link on to anyone you know that may be willing to spare $1, $5, anything…it all adds up and will greatly help us get through this financial mess my cancer has created. Darn that Mildred!
